CompanyXemed began as a high-tech medical products company, created in 2004 to spin off hyperpolarized xenon production technology invented at the University of New Hampshire. UNH has been awarded one patent on this technology, and applied for several others. Xemed is the exclusive licensee of this technology portfolio. Funded through a series of nine SBIR/STTR grants, three of which have transitioned to Phase 2, Xemed has been able to develop commercial hyperpolarized gas production systems and begin validating diagnostic imaging protocols. While Xemed’s principal focus will continue to be on refining the gas polarization technology for the next several years, we nevertheless must prepare to meet the broad market requirements for the imaging agents themselves. Once they become FDA approved, MagniXene™ and MagniLium™ have vast potential as diagnostic imaging agents for managing Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). Twenty years from now, doctors may be using MagniXene™ and MagniLium™ to manage the care of millions of lung patients. Nearer term, pharmaceutical companies are expected to utilize these agents to inform their drug trials for pulmonary therapies, to reduce their duration and cost and increase their precision. — Markets Xemed is a small business located at 16 Strafford Avenue abutting the campus of the University of New Hampshire, in Durham, New Hampshire. Its core management team of PhD-level scientists and engineers is supported by a highly skilled staff of dedicated professionals. Technical and clinical collaborations extend and complement our internal efforts. — People |
